Huntress Labs
Staff UX & Technical Writer | 2023-2026
A rapidly growing cybersecurity startup that provides the technology and the expertise to protect businesses of all sizes. Distributed by design, this workforce has swelled from several hundred to over one thousand employees during my tenure.
Despite starting at a Senior level, the opportunity to be the first writer in the door was huge. As a small, flat organiztion structure for a long time, I could get involved and connect with anyone on any team I needed to and build from there. I wrote for all products, influenced internal processes, set the standards for content, and was a bridge between every department.

Tanium
Technical Writer | 2016-2017
A USA-centric endpoint security and management company focused on deploying security on a massive scale for enterprise businesses. Though we had offices on either coast, most employees were distributed.
I had the pleasure of being the third writer in the door here and advocated for consistency and repeatable standards for our documentation. Completed a content migration from a MediaWiki environment to using GitHub as our CMS and MadCap Flare for editing. Fully supported three product teams and provided partial support to more.

Secure Computing / McAfee
Technical Writer & Tech Lead | 2008-2016
Everyone has heard of McAfee, but fewer are familiar with the enterprise product line. A small, private cybersecurity company called Secure Computing was bought by McAfee, which was then bought by Intel, and then Intel divested various McAfee product lines and then eventually, divested from McAfee as a whole. The workforce here varied greatly but was always made up of global teams.
Started as a troubleshooting customer service representative, then got promoted into the TechPubs department in 2011. It was during a massive migration project from unstructured Framemaker into a fully-featured CMS with a new DITA structure. I was soley responsible for two products with large document sets and my own hardware lab.

Elastic
Principal UX & Technical Writer | 2018-2022
A developer-focused company that has an open source heart for scalable search experiences. This Globally distributed workforce was a few hundred when I joined and almost three thousand employees by the end of my tenure.
Starting as Senior and then promoted to Principal, I was the sixth writer in the door and the second supporting their cloud-hosted stack documentation and UIs. We were a docs-as-code shop, fully embedded on our Engineering teams. In my last year here, I moved to UX writing exclusively to formalize UX writing practices across the company and helped launch the Elastic design system.
